He was a shoemaker and had a house and shop at Woodford's Corner, but moved to So. Paris. On the morning of 15 Nov. 1827 he was found dead. The Oxford Observer of Nov. 22, 1827 had the following item: "on last Wednesday a Coroner was called to view the body near Stowell's Mills in Paris. The verdict of the jury was that 'he died by the visitation of God'. On the previous night there was a very remarkable storm of rain, with very high wind and intense darkness. Mr. might probably left his shop to go to his dwelling, but It seems that he got out of the direct road and reached a pile of boards on which he was found dead. He was a man of rather intemperate habits, which may account in some degree for his losing his way and coming to his death in so sudden a manner'.
