-333- WILLIAM, b. 30 Sept. 1788: d. in Bangor 27 July 1816. ae 27: m. in Newbury 28 Dec. 1813 Mary Lumbert. They moved to Bangor and he and his wife's brother opened a tavern. From a Bangor newspaper of Saturday 29 June 1816: 'On Thursday evening last, two Indians of the Penobscot tribe entered the public house of Messrs. Knight and Lumbert of this town. Being noisy, Knight requested them to leave. on their refusal he put them out. They threw stones at the house. He went out to drive them away, and one of them, Pool Sinsop, stabbed him, killing him almost instantly'. His widow m. (2) 7 Sept. 1822 Moses Ingalls of Danville, Vt. A Mary Ingalls d. in Londonderry, Vt. 26 Oct. 1832, probably William's widow.
