-157- DANIEL, b. 29 Jan. 1739: d. in Newbury 18 March 1793, ae 44; m. in Newbury 28 Jan. 1762 Mary Goodwin, b. in Amesbury, Ma. 15 Oct 1738; buried 2 Feb. 1786, ae 47. During the French and Indian War he was a private in Capt. Beniah Young's Co. at Crown Point, NY from Feb.- Dec. 1756, while his brothers David and Thomas were in Capt. Richard Kent's Co. at the same area. m. Davenport's Company in the Quebec capture by Gen. Wolfe. He was also in Capt. Gideon Woodwell's Co. which marched to 1759 he was in Capt. Cambridge on the alarm of 19 April 1775, battles of Concord and Lexington, reported home 25 April 1775, 'service 6 days, 86 miles'. He was also 1st Sergeant Capt. Stephen Kent's Co. raised for defense of Essex City sea coast, stationed in Newbury from July-Dec. 1775. He was also in Capt. Moses Nowell's Co. from July-Jan. 1777, stationed at Plum Island, Ma. See 'Mass. Soldiers and Sailors In War of Revolution', Vol. 9, pages 343-44. This service was given though he had several small children at home, and a farm to take care of.

-161- CAPT. JOHN, b. 21 Oct. 1748; d. before 15 May 1825; m. in Marblehead, Ma. 11 Sept. 1783 Anna Swett, b. in Marblehead 17 Oct. 1756; d. in Salem, Ma. 15 May 1825, a widow. John was Capt. of the schooner Hawk which was captured by a British warship on 10 May 1779. Part of the crew were committed to Old Mill Prison, Plymouth, Eng. John escaped from the prison, how he did so is not recorded. In 1781 he was Capt. of the brig Ranger, 8 guns and 20 men.
