-1330- JOHN L., b. 27 Dec. 1816; d. in Wabash, md. 22 Feb. 1888, ae 71; he taught school for three years, then attended Alleghany College for two years; moved to Wabash where he studied law with a lawyer and was licensed to practice law in 1843. He m. (1) 24 May 1847 Martha A. Ray of Wabash, b. 1830, who d. 3 Dec. 1858, ae 28 at childbirth; he m. (2) 4 Mar. 1861 Mary Newton of Crawfordsville, Ind., b. i837; d. 10 Feb. 1862, ae 24. He was elected Judge of the Common Pleas Court from 1852-56, also was very active in banking and in newspaper publishing.

He m. 29 Oct. 1846 Jane Osborne, b. in Phila. 11 June 1828; d. there 18 Feb. 1911, ae 82. They lived In Pendleton City., KY. 1849-51. He was also a Methodist visiting preacher, he had no regular parish, but preached at homes for the poor, and at institutions.
