-1215- NATHANIEL A., b. 4 Mar. 1827; d. In Fresno, Ca. 20 Aug. 1898, ae 71; m. (1)1 Jan. 1851 Eliza A. Smith of Walden, Vt. On 15 Oct. 1851 Nathaniel and his brother Henry started for California via Nicaragua, by steamer landing In San Francisco on 20 Nov. 1851. They went to Hangtown (now called Placerville) where they bought tools, and went mining and prospecting. They mined for two years, and then went to Diamond Spring, and took up some land for gardening and fruit raising. Eliza d. in 1858 and he m. (2) Martha J. Farqua, b. in Missouri 5 Mar. 1841 (but then a res. of California); she d. In San Francisco 22 May 1923, ae 82. Eventually he had 314 acres of land, most of It under cultivation, and was a very successful farmer.

-1216- HENRY T., b. 29 Oct. 1828; d. In Harbor Springs, Lake City., Ca. 24 July 1898, ae 69. He went to California In 1851 with his brother Nathaniel; m. In Sacramento, City. 25 Jan. 1869 Mary Ellen (Nellie) Bender who d. 24 July 1898. He was a civil engineer and helped build the dam across the American River, and the electric plant at Folsom, which supplies electric power for Sacramento.

-1217- ANDREW L., b. 4 Mar. 1830; moved to Boston, MA. and d. there 4 Mar. 1895, ae 65; m. in Boston 8 Mar. 1859 Mary A. Severance, b. In Sandwich, NH 15 Feb. 1839; d. In Foxboro, MA. 27 Nov. 1929, ae 90. He was a lawyer and claim agent for the Boston & Maine R. R. for many years.

-1218- SAMUEL P., b. 21 Aug. 1831; d. in Oakland, Ca. 31 Oct. 1905, ae 74, a carpenter; he went to California In 1852 with his brothers John and William, following their brothers Nathaniel and Henry who had gone a year earlier. He served three years as a bugler In a regiment of California cavalry in the Civil War; m. In 1869 Sarah Freeman b. in New York in June 1848; d. in California in 1929, ae 81. No children.

-1219- JOHN L., b. 14 Feb. 1843; d. in California 9 Apr. 1878, ae 45, a farmer and teamster; m. 17 Nov. 1871 Ida F. Schoff, b. 1857; she m. (2) in Sacramento City. 23 Dec. 1884 Ralph A. Olmstead of Gault, Ca. No death record In California for Ida.
