He and his brother George settled in Brunswick, Ga. in 1849, then moved to White Sulphur Springs, Hamilton Co., Fla., for a few years, then finally settled in Jacksonville, Fla., where he d. 8 Sept. 1889, ae 67. He was Secretary of the Florida Medical Assoc. and is listed in 'A Century of Medicine', by Webster Merritt, pub. 1949 Univ. of Florida Press. He m. (1) in Brunswick, Ga. in 1849 Caroline Demere, b. there in 1826, a descendant of Raymond Devere who came to Georgia with Gen. Ogelthorpe and served as a Capt. In his army. She d. in Jacksonville 24 Feb. 1873, ae 47; he m. (2) 25 June 1878 Anna Bishop, b. in Newburn, N.C. 13 Apr. 1850; d. in Chattanouchee, Fla. 22 Mar. 1933, ae 83.
