"He and his brother, Samuel, were in a boat gunning for ducks near the mouth of the Presumpscot River. Just as Samuel, who was in the stern of the boat, fired at a flock of ducks, Jacob suddenly stood up and received the charge in the back of his head, being instantly killed".
